How do I share a Dopppel chat?
Open "Share chat" at the top of a chat and copy the link. Anyone with it can read the chat up to that point, and nothing you say after that shows up.

What it is
A link is the easiest way to show someone a chat. They do not need an account, and they do not need Dopppel. They just open the link and read.
What they see is a copy, frozen at the moment you made the link. Keep talking in your chat and they will not see any of it, unless you press "Update to latest". Your name is not on it, and neither is anything Dopppel remembers about you.
You stay in charge of the link. "Delete link" turns it off, and anyone who had it gets nothing. Every link you ever made is listed in Settings, so you can go back and switch off an old one. A person reading your link can also press "Continue this chat" and get their own copy to keep talking in — that copy is theirs, so you do not see what they say next, and they do not see what you say next.
How to use it
- 1Open the chat you want to show someone.
- 2Tap "Share chat" at the top.
- 3Tap Copy to take the link, then paste it wherever you like. You can also send it straight to a friend or a Gäng on Dopppel.
- 4Tap "Update to latest" later if you want them to see the newer messages too.
- 5Tap "Delete link" when you are done, or turn it off later from Settings.
Questions
Does the person need a Dopppel account?
No. Anyone with the link can read it. An account is only needed if they want to keep talking in their own copy.
Will they see what I say after I share it?
No. The link shows the chat up to the moment you made it. Press "Update to latest" if you want to let the newer messages through.
Do they see my name or what Dopppel knows about me?
No. Your name and your memories are not part of a shared chat.
Can I turn a link off?
Yes. Tap "Delete link" in the share window, or open Settings and turn off any link you made before. The link stops working for everyone.
What is "Continue this chat"?
It is the button the reader gets. It makes them their own copy of the chat so they can keep going. What they say next stays in their copy.
Is sharing a chat the same as a Gäng?
No. A link is read-only and one way. A Gäng is a live group chat where everyone talks and Dopppel is in the room. Read the Gäng page for that.
